The Figure in Time and Space

  • Zoey Frank Studio 105 W 2nd St Loveland, CO 80537 (map)

Using traditional drawing skills along with concepts from modernism we will explore an embodied understanding of the figure. We will look at the figure in relationship to the environment, and we will discuss mark-making, gesture, and how we might convey emotion through the figure. This is a chance to try working with different drawing materials (ink wash, charcoal, pastel pencils etc.), and to try different approaches to building up a drawing.

$425 for the three-day workshop (model fee included). Email to register.

During 2019 I will be teaching a year-long figure series that builds from one workshop to the next. We will do figure drawing in the spring and figure painting in the fall. Students are encouraged to take all of the workshops as a progressive course, but each three-day workshop can also be taken independently. In order to get the most out of the course students can work on their own figure projects outside of class and bring those projects in each month for a critique.
