This course is designed to support your ongoing studio practice (or help you develop one) by introducing new ways of approaching pictorial space and composition in your painting. Each day we will discuss a chapter of William Dunning’s “Changing Images of Pictorial Space” and then paint still lifes from observation to directly explore different ways of representing space. The classes will be taught in oils and will include demos, individual and group critique. This will be an ongoing course, the second 5 sessions will bring us from the High Renaissance through Baroque and Rococo to the roots of modernism. Subsequent courses will continue our investigations up to the present day.
Every-other Sunday beginning March 18th. (Except we will meet on Saturday March 31st to avoid Easter)
